The Importance of STEM in Education!

We’re going to need the brain power of the next generation to fix the mistakes of the past. And we must ensure that students from all backgrounds are given the chance to contribute. Diversity in science leads to diversity in solutions.

-Sigma Xi Executive Director and CEO Jamie L. Vernon- Sigma Xi is the international honor society for scientists and engineers, including 200 Nobel laureate members.

Watching the speech of Jamie L. Vernon not so long ago, highlights the fact that us young scientists and engineers are the future of our world and STEM education in schools is more important than ever.

At Felsted School http://www.felsted.org we are very lucky that we have an excellent STEM program and all pupils are in involved in STEM projects. Everyone is encourage to be innovative and think about Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM).

STEM is important in schools as it is a way of being very inclusive and it does not matter if science and maths is not your natural strength in school. It encourages you to think about the world and real life issues and you can approach this thought process from any angle. This opportunity can spark something new in pupils and builds a foundation for the engineers of tomorrow.

Our “The ProHand Way” project is a vision that has come to life through STEM opportunities. We are particularly interested in finding a way to help people in war torn countries to supply them with everything they need to build their own prothetic. We can easily take things for granted living in the UK and we have everything we need available to us.

With our projects we don’t just want to help but also create awareness that you are never too young to make a difference and although we cannot change the world…maybe we can change the world for one person.

We will not stop working and developing our idea and we will help as many people as possible and encourage others to join us and do the same.

Without the integrated STEM curriculum at Felsted School we would never have tried to make our vision a reality.

The art behind the design…

Never compromise on the fine details!

We pride ourselves with the attention to detail, this starts with the first drawing and first 3D designs all the way up to the finished product. Saying that…a product is never finished for us as nothing stays the same in life and so won’t our ideas and designs. We never rush anything and constant innovation is at the heart of everything we do.
